The Problems of Nigeria: An Aspect

There is an adage that says "He that does not know where the rain started beating him may not know where it would stop beating him". Identification of roots or factors responsible for a problem is key to an effective solution to the problem. The medics know how important this is in pathogenesis. In context, salvaging Nigeria entails a blueprint that analyzes the important time stamps in the history of Nigeria, and addresses their effects on the idiosyncrasy of the people of Nigeria and on the state of the country.

Some scholars believe that colonialism has no linkages with the current realities in Nigeria. However, I differ without apology, supporting the likes of Paulinus C. Ejeh (2021) and Umaru Abubakar Bala (2019) in asserting that colonialism and the legacies of the colonial masters have significant impacts on Nigeria.

In my opinion, the British ruled Nigeria and are still ruling Nigeria through the instrumentality of ethnic tension/regional imbalance and economic disparity. This social weaponry has everything to do with the situation in Nigeria.

They studied the specific characteristics of the people of each region, divided the country into regions (divide and rule system), and enacted policies that enforced the imbalance and ethnic bias they created.

As simple as this may seem, it grew into a complex and multi-headed hydra that has held Nigeria in this sorry state - they succeeded in corrupting the minds of the Nigerian people against each other, and by way of exploiting the vulnerability of some regions, they made them believe that they are meant to rule and should never trade power for anything not even on grounds of competence while they keep wreaking havoc and taking advantage of our resources - you might be rather shocked to know that Britain has a hand in the civil war.

Over time, this diabolic invention became a normalcy and almost a law - whenever it was time to zone the presidency to the east, the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, will lose trust and confidence in the very constitution they have been using from time immemorial. Dr Ogbonanya Onu, a former minister of science and technology, and a scholar per excellence, was one of the founding fathers of the All Progressive Congress, APC, but he was never considered suitable to be at least the party's flag bearer for once and I ask, on what grounds? simply because he is an Easterner. The 'cabal' holds this to their heart and will never allow an easterner to become the president of Nigeria democratically. Hold on, pal, I need to let you know that the 'cabal' is, due to lack of a word that would do justice to the nature of this group, a cult, comprising of British-Nigerian slaves, and unfortunately, they rule the country no matter who is the president. It would take an individual who draws from an entirely different stream to subdue their influence on the presidency. Imagine former President Goodluck Jonathan congratulating an INEC-installed president - I thought he was an International Peace Ambassador, I wonder if he knew that he was promoting tyranny, anarchy and neglect for the rule of law by that act.

Another tool the British explored and are still exploring to indirectly rule Nigeria is the economic disparity. This avenue ensures the impoverishment of the citizens of Nigeria. As a matter of fact, the administration of a country as complex and diverse as Nigeria with a faulty and unamendable constitution, the use of crippling policies and statutes, and stealing from public treasury ensures that the poor remain poor while the rich become richer. As long as this disparity exists, Nigeria may never be free, fixed, and progressive. You might think that Britain has nothing to do with this but I assure you, they do.

One of us, an icon of greatness, a scholar extraordinaire, a powerful and resourceful woman, Chimamanda Ngiozi A., wrote the president of America and as I expected he did not act the American way, he refused to take after his predecessor in the way they would display their military and diplomatic might as they did in Cuba, Iran, North Korea, Venezuela, and China as the Arch angel Michael of Earth. Why? Because they are also indirect beneficiaries of the despicable state of Nigeria. "We are being diplomatic", "Nigeria is a sovereign state", oh, wow, really?

Britain was among the first countries that congratulated an INEC-installed president after witnessing all that happened - of course, when it comes to Nigeria, their intelligence and technology fail them. Again, what on earth can make a country as Britain plot a saga against Mr Peter Obi, detained and attempted defamation of character. You now know the drill, right? They can do anything to ensure perpetual control of Nigeria.

I have tears running down my cheek as I am writing this paragraph, my heart is heavy and my fingers weak, I am somewhat numb from the pains of this truth, from the pains of the fact that most of our leaders in Nigeria undergo a surgical operation to remove their human heart, to annihilate their sympathy, and to fill every vessel in their entire being with greed and evil quest for power once they win an election. Dave Umahi kept the people of Ebonyi state in penury and anguish while he amassed wealth for himself in the guise of fractural development, and Wike committed all those atrocities against humanity just to make the ministerial list? What a pity. This is me saying that howbeit, most of the political leaders in Nigeria are a major cause of the longevity of the problems in Nigeria.

Sir Emeh Geoffery I. of blessed memory would say that "No matter how hard it may seem, once the cause of a problem is known, the problem is 80% solved. I vehemently believe that Nigeria needs to break free from the influence and enchantments of Britain if it must progress. Niger has woken up. I pray Nigeria follows suit democratically rather. Prof. PLO Lumumba said and quote, "Th Day Nigeria wakes up, Africa will never be the same. Prof. PLO knows this truth. He is not oblivious to the waves young Nigerians home and in the diaspora are making, he is aware of Nigeria's mineral endowments, he acknowledges Nigeria's beautiful cultural heritage and landmass as a matter of advantage yet, he calls for the awakening of a former giant of Africa because he knows Nigeria is under an influence.
